Uralsk is a city located in the northwest of Kazakhstan and is one of the regions in the country with abundant uranium resources. Uranium mining activities have been ongoing in the Uralsk region for several decades. Kazakhstan is one of the world's largest producers of uranium, and the uranium mines in the Uralsk region contribute a significant portion of the country's production. Uranium Mining Group is a local Kazakhstani uranium mining company that specializes in exploration, development, and production of uranium resources within Kazakhstan. The company has undertaken several uranium mining projects in the Uralsk region. The geological conditions in the Uralsk region can be highly complex, with various rock types and stratigraphic structures. This can result in encountering different geological layers during the drilling process. In the actual exploration process, the staff of Uranium Mining Group encountered this issue. They found that the drilling speed varied and the consumption of drill bits was inconsistent, which made them realize the complexity of the geological layers in the region. Based on the feedback from the customers, Best's technical staff provided solutions for drill selection and coring techniques: 1.Selecting appropriate drilling tools based on the hardness and characteristics of the geological layers. For softer sandstone or conglomerate layers, rotating drilling tools such as drill bits or core drilling tools can be chosen. For harder rock layers, sturdier drilling tools like drill bits and anchor rod drilling tools may be required. 2.Implementing innovative coring techniques. For soft sandstone or conglomerate, core sampling is a commonly used technique, where continuous rock core samples are obtained using core drilling tools. For harder rock layers, methods such as drill hole samplers or drilling fluid samplers may be used to obtain fragmented rock samples. By employing these approaches, the customer's exploration and sampling process proceeded smoothly. The customers acknowledged the professionalism and service attitude of Best's technical staff.

Turkey is renowned for its high-quality marble and is one of the largest marble exporting countries globally. It is widely distributed in locations such as Istanbul, Bolu, Diyarbakir, and Burdur. CSK SONDAJ, a Turkish company, specializes in researching the quality, texture, and extraction potential of marble.   Marble typically has high hardness but is also relatively brittle, which can lead to the fragmentation and damage of core samples during the coring process, making it challenging to obtain intact core samples. Moreover, marble exhibits complex textures and structures, with various types of cracks, joints, and deformations. These features increase the uncertainties during the coring process and may cause the drilling tools to get stuck or unable to proceed. CSK SONDAJ faced these practical challenges during their coring operations.   In their communication with BEST, the employees at BEST understood the pain points of CSK SONDAJ. They provided advice on using high-hardness and abrasion-resistant drill bits suitable for coring marble. BEST also supplied specially designed drilling tools for rock coring, which can better tackle the challenges posed by the hardness and durability of marble. Upon learning that the client company would undertake a large-scale marble coring project in Burdur, BEST engineers advised CSK SONDAJ employees to conduct rock surveys and preliminary measurements to understand the characteristics and structures of the marble. By combining the customized drill bits and drilling tools provided by BEST, along with the comprehensive guidance from the engineers, the coring project in Burdur was successfully completed.

Project case in Brazil

Brazil is one of the world's largest producers of manganese ore. In the state of Minas Gerais, on-site personnel are conducting core drilling operations to study the quality and exploration potential of manganese ore. However, during the actual coring process, the field workers encountered significant difficulties with the rock formation. They noticed that the drill bits were wearing out rapidly, the drilling speed was slow, and at times, the drill bits even got stuck. This posed a practical challenge to the coring operation, and the drill bits were on the verge of depletion. The workers realized that conventional drill bits were inadequate for completing the coring work, and the project came to a standstill. Through the recommendation of colleagues engaged in manganese ore coring operations in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, the on-site personnel were introduced to Best’s drill bits. With remote guidance from Best engineers, they made further adjustments to the drilling parameters, including the speed, downforce, and flushing fluid flow, in order to overcome the hardness of the rock formation. Throughout the process, the workers observed that the wear and tear on the drill bits decreased by at least 50% compared to the previously used ones. The detailed consumption of drill bits was reduced, and the challenges posed by the increased resistance from the hard rock formation were successfully overcome. As a result, the project operations were completed smoothly, and the durability and stability of Best’s drill bits, along with the professional service provided by their engineers, were highly recognized by the on-site personnel.
